The Wheel of Light

Monthly Newsletter - June 2021

The Sun intersects the Earth at four significant times each year. These are called cardinal points. They are the Solstices and the Equinoxes. The Solstices occur when the Sun reaches its northern most point at the Tropic of Cancer (Summer Solstice) and its southern most point at the Tropic of Capricorn (Winter Solstice). The equinoxes occur when the Sun is at the equator. Each of these events begins a new season. Astrologers align these events with the beginning of a new quadrant of the zodiac. This month the Summer Solstice occurs on June 20. The Sun reaches its highest point in our sky, it is the longest day of the year, it marks the beginning of the Sun’s return journey south and it begins the quadrant containing the signs Cancer, Leo and Virgo. A horoscope cast at the time of the Sun triggering a cardinal point suggests energy patterns that will emerge over the next three months. Casting the chart for Washington DC we can see how our country will experience and respond to this new season.

Some of the patterns reflected in this chart, such as Aquarius rising and Jupiter in the first house in Pisces, suggests a time of concern for the quality of life for our social collective. We all get to be included, especially in areas that can improve the quality of life for the greatest number of our citizens. The Sun is in the fifth house, suggesting that we will want to break out of Covid quarantine and mask wearing by partying, engaging in recreational activities and doing things we love but have had to avoid for over a year. There are also some concerns in the chart. For example, there are two oppositions taking place along the 6th-12th house axis, the axis of health, healing and service. One of these is Mars in Leo (the only fire in the chart) in opposition to Saturn in Aquarius. Oppositions can bring interactive challenges between the self and others. Saturn is also squaring Uranus (the main challenging aspect that will be with us all year). This combination of challenging aspects suggests ongoing problems between those who are following Covid protocals and those who aren’t. Whether this leads to a governmental crackdown on those who aren’t or indicates another surge of the pandemic, or both, is hard to know at this time. The main conflict here is self vs. the collective. The 6th house also focuses on nature. So there is also the possibility of natural disasters this summer in the form of wildfires, hurricanes and earthquakes.

There is also an opposition between Venus in Cancer and Pluto in Capricorn. Although this is along the axis of health and service, in and of itself, it is an aspect that can suggest financial losses. Whether this is connected to the financial markets, localities and hospitals that are trying to keep up with a new surge or inflation fears or realities is, again, hard to know. Because the 6th House can also pertain to workers and the building trades, this could also suggest problems finding enough competent people to hire in a newly booming economy or restrictions in supply chains. It could be a combination of all of the above.

There is also an opposition between Uranus (radical, unexpected or inspired change) and the Moon (emotional state of the people). The Moon is in the 8th House (collective financial resources) while Uranus is in the 3rd House (communication). This again implies erratic financial markets due to the threat of inflation. It could also bring up challenges to social media’s power in the marketplace. Unexpected events that challenge our collective sense of well being could also occur.

Even though there is good news suggested by the presence of playful, spontaneous energy and the potential that the pandemic is definitely lifting, there are still many challenges. The fact that they seem to be focused on financial and labor issues as well as the ongoing political conflicts between the political parties, suggests that this could be a long hot summer with some fun thrown in. Let’s remember to take advantage of the enjoyment and not get overly focused on the difficulties.

AriesAries (March 21-April 20)
Aries: Early month brings creative energy in the home. This could be household projects or doing art in your home. This could also be a time when challenges between work and home, or between you and someone at work, could either clear the air or initiate a new conflict.

TaurusTaurus (April 21-May 21)
Taurus: Focus on family and your neighborhood this month. There may even be unexpected but exciting social connections mid-month. Savor and enjoy all the pleasant social activities, but be careful about expenditures in late month.

GeminiGemini (May 22-June 21)
Gemini: Creative writing or the drive to journal daily are pulls for you this month. Exploring yourself, your drives and internal motivations can be especially prioritized, especially around the New Moon in Gemini on the 10th.

CancerCancer (June 22-July 22)
Cancer: The Solar Eclipse at the New Moon on the 10th can bring intuitive insights into yourself and your understanding of others. Set time aside around the New Moon to tune in to the spiritual teachings that will be available to you.

LeoLeo (July 23-August 23)
Leo: Steady progress toward the completion of practical projects is available to you in early month. After that, the focus is on sharing ideas and perspectives with others. This could be done verbally in person or through creative communication in any number of ways.

VirgoVirgo (August 24-Sept 22)
Virgo: This is a good time to either learn new techniques or refine old ones that will enable you to be more productive at work. Applying intuitive insights to more concrete understanding can facilitate this process.

LibraLibra (Sept 23-Oct 23)
Libra: Career could be a main focus for you this month. Desirable opportunities could be revealed in early month. Some changes or learning to work with new machines or technology could make this a stimulating and interesting month.

ScorpioScorpio (Oct 24-Nov 22)
Scorpio: Verbal challenges or confrontations could emerge this month, especially with relatives, neighbors or teachers and fellow students. Growth comes from clearly stating your point of view, then listening to what others have to say. Avoid feeling as if you always have to be right.

SagittariusSagittarius (Nov 23-Dec 21)
Sagittarius: This is a good time for inner questing. You could discover helpful emotional or psychological insights about your internal process. You could also find significant spiritual inspiration.

CapricornCapricorn (Dec 22-Jan 20)
Capricorn: The Full Moon in Capricorn on the 24th can bring heightened emotional sensitivity. Use this as a time to become more emotionally self-aware and becoming more comfortable asking for what you need. Remember to accept the support once it is offered.

AquariusAquarius (Jan 21 to Feb 19)
Aquarius: Early month can bring enjoyable even creative social activities. Your creative muse could also be stimulated. The underlying conflict of the need for change coupled with the need for security is still present, however, suggesting that some type of daily internal check in would be advantageous.

PiscesPisces (Feb 20-March 20)
Pisces: This is a good time to work on developing self-confidence based on the inner work you are doing and the connection to Source that you feel. Confidence in yourself and faith in your connection go hand in hand.
