One of the most consequential Presidential elections in the history of the United States is approaching. This column is going to look at the charts of Kamala Harris and Donald Trump in two ways. Hopefully they will provide insight into how the electorate perceives these candidates and what their prognosis for election will be. The two ways involve 1 - seeing the transits to each candidates chart on Election Day, and 2- seeing the intersection between their personal charts and the chart of the United States. There have been many horoscopes that have been presented by various astrologers that claim to be the chart of this country. The one that most astrologers use, however, and the one that I will be referring to in this column is called the Sibley chart, after the astrologer who first used it.
First, let’s look at the intersection between the Sibley chart and those of the candidates. This will enable us to see the theoretical way in which the people perceive them. I will only be looking at a few of the many aspects that are formed between these various charts. Harris’ Ascendant or Rising Sign is Gemini and is in conjunction with Mars in the United States chart. This suggests that her personality inspires the people to action. That could be anything from voting for her to violence, Mars being the energy of both new beginnings and anger. Her Saturn (serious, focused, productive) is conjunct the US natal Moon. The Moon in a countries chart pertains to the people. So, we the people could feel her exhorting us to come together in productive, serious ways or feel as if she is restricting us in some way. Mercury (communication and the ruler of Harris’ chart) is trine (harmonious connection) to the US natal Venus-Jupiter conjunction. This suggests that her words could inspire a generous and positive feeling among the people.
Trump’s Sun is conjunct the US natal Mars. This suggests that he, like Harris, could inspire a sense of new beginnings or the impulse to violence. It’s certainly possible that even though the US natal Mars is being activated by both candidates, that they could inspire completely different responses, or at least different responses in different people. His Saturn is conjunct the US natal Mercury. This implies that he will direct and/or limit communication. That could be between people and/or the media. His Mercury is conjunct the US natal Jupiter suggests that the people will clearly understand both his words as well as the meaning behind them. Finally, his Jupiter (expansion, higher mind) is conjunct the US natal Saturn. This suggests that his ideas and platform will be accepted by the people, who are then motivated to activate or go along with them. Or that the people will respond by blocking his ideas and the implementation of them.
We can conclude that both candidates’ charts coincide with the US Sibley chart in significant ways. It will be up the free will of the electorate to decide how they respond to their messages.
The transits on election day show a similar correspondence of integrated influences. There will be a Jupiter-Venus opposition on November 5 that is conjunct Harris Ascendant-Descendent axis. This axis indicates the way in which we interact with others and how others see us. Jupiter and Venus both have to do with popularity, and success. Uranus (cutting edge, innovative change) will be conjunct her natal Jupiter. This implies that technology and social media will have a lot to do with her popularity, how she is perceived and who will tend to vote for her. There will also be a square between transiting Pluto (transformation) and her natal Sun-Moon opposition. This is an aspect she has been dealing with for a few year already. Usually squares are challenging, but she seems to have responded to and overcome those challenges in order to be in her current situation.
Trump also has significant transits to his chart on election day. The most important is transiting Jupiter conjunct his natal Sun. Jupiter can represent either fame or notoriety, whichever the person has created for themselves in terms of reputation. Uranus (unexpected change) will be conjunct his natal Midheaven. This implies change in his public image or social status. It could mean an unexpected victory or an unexpected response to losing.
Mars will have just entered Leo on Election Day. Mars is the energy of new beginnings and both candidates have Mars in Leo. They are each having a Mars return, which is often associated with new beginnings in the professional arena.
Space limits me from diving into greater depth and detail. I will, however, be providing a more complete delineation of this subject in my Tuesday Nite Class the week before the election on October 29th. Class is offered via Zoom. If you are interested in receiving the link to that class, email me at rio@starwatcher.com. The cost is $10.
